Amelie Derrieux-Sable, Director of Marketing, Champagne Henriot
I’m still smiling after my sparkling Instagram Live conversation with Amelie Derrieux‑Sable, Director of Marketing for Champagne Henriot. Known for their distinctive Chardonnay driven style, Champagne Henriot was founded in Reims in 1808 and is one of the few remaining family-owned houses in Champagne.
Watch our chat and tasting by clicking the video above, on Instagram, or YouTube. We started off with their flagship Champagne Henriot Blanc de Blancs ($65). Aged for 4 years on the lees, it is an elegant expression of Chardonnay that sashays across the palate with delicate bubbles, crisp fruit, and that lovely touch of brioche that I always look for in Champagne. We then tasted Champagne Henriot Millésime 2008 ($100), which marks the House’s 200th vintage. A 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the 2008 was aged for 10 years on the lees and has a captivating complexity -- hints of nuts and ginger meld beautifully with vibrant fruit and crisp minerality.
Champagne isn't just for toasting! From appetizers to main courses, Amelie provided some wonderful pairing suggestions that show how beautifully Champagne Henriot can be enjoyed throughout the meal. And if you’re wondering how to pronounce Henriot, Amelie says just remember that the H & T are silent!
