A glass of rosé is delicious year round but springtime's sunny days and blue skies really rev up my craving for these pretty wines that range in shade from the palest of pink to vivid fuschia. Sweet or dry, crisp or fruity; there really is a rosé to suit every palate. This week, I'll share three delicious rosés that will have you sipping pretty in no time!
Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Rosé 2014 ($23)
"I make natural wines that are easy to drink, not 'technical wines' that are heavy and don't go with food. I have a strong philosophy that our wine is a beverage meant to compliment food." - Pascal Jolivet
I'm already of fan of Pascal Jolivet's minimalist winemaking style and his elegant Sancerre Rosé 2014 is simply superb. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this Loire Valley (France) wine's power comes from its subtlety. A delicate shade of very pale salmon pink, Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Rosé 2014 has a soft nose of fresh berries and delicate but layered flavors of strawberry and herbs. This vibrant wine paired beautifully with my meal of pasta with fresh basil and tomatoes. Expressive without being overwhelming, Pascal Jolivet Sancerre Rosé 2014 is a great choice with your lighter meals - spring salads, simple pastas, and grilled chicken.
