Master baker and bread maker extraordinaire Eric Kayser continues his flour-fueled invasion of New York City and the locals are devouring every single crumb. Let's face it - resistance is futile in the face of beautiful breads and almost too-pretty-to-eat pastries served with a generous dash of French chic.
Maison Kayser has just opened their third NYC location at 1800 Broadway (Columbus Circle, 58th Street) and the Paris-based boulangerie is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. Pop in to pick up fresh-brewed coffee and made-on-the-premises artisan bread and pastries. Sit down in the 65-seat cafe for a meal of savory sandwiches, salads, soups, and more. Made-to-order vegetable juices and smoothies are also available.
Yours truly is not a morning person but I raced across town at record speed when I was invited to attend breakfast last week at the new Maison Kayser hosted by the man himself. This was my second encounter with the charming and talented Monsieur Kayser and no other man on the planet can describe bread in such poetic terms. Yes, I swooned into my café au lait!
What's next for Eric Kayser? Maison Kayser will continue its tasty takeover of NYC with the opening of a stand-alone grab-and-go bakery in Bryant Park on November 6th at 8 West 40th Street.
