As the weather warms up, a time out with a refreshing cocktail is one of the highlights of the season. From classic quenchers to modern wonders of mixology, throughout the summer I'll showcase great drinks from around the globe. Let's get cocktail hour started with a signature sip from Italy - the Aperol Spritz.
If you've never tried an Aperol Spritz, I highly recommend this vibrant aperitif. The soul of the spritz is the classic Italian spirit Aperol - a truly tasty and balanced infusion of sweet orange peel, hints of mandarin,
orange, and an array of herbs and spices. The Aperol Spritz is the perfect alternative to drinks that are too
sweet. And, Aperol has a much lower alcohol content than many other
spirits - just 11%.
To create the spritz, simply mix 3 parts Prosecco, with 2 parts Aperol, and a splash of soda water. Serve over ice and garnish with an orange slice - before you can say la dolce vita, you'll have a fabulous tasting Aperol Spritz. And, the beautiful shade of orange calls to mind sultry summer sunsets.
