Calling all music lovers, book your trip now for the Savannah Music Festival (March 22-April 7). The largest musical arts event in the state of Georgia, the Savannah Music Festival is truly an elegantly eclectic affair featuring more than 100 performances of classical, jazz, bluegrass, zydeco, flamenco, funk, latin, and so much more.
I was recently invited to sample a taste of the music that will be performed at the Savannah Music Festival and was treated to a high energy performance from one of my favorite jazz musicians - the incredible Wynton Marsalis accompanied by the Aaron Diehl trio. Other well known artists that will perform at the Savannah Music Festival include guitarist Paco de Lucia, tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, violinist Daniel Hope, Blazing Banjos, vocalist, singer/songwriter Abigail Washburn, pianist Marcus Roberts, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, and many more world-class artists.
Of course, Savannah's countless charms make it an idyllic place to visit and the Savannah Music Festival takes place in venues all around town so you will really get a chance to explore this walkable city. And, don't forget the food, not only is Savannah one of the prettiest places that I've ever visited, the cuisine is beyond delicious - local favorites include Garibaldi and The Olde Pink House. Great music, great food and great times!
