Cool, crisp, and fruity Rosé wines are always delicious but they are particularly enjoyable during the warm summer months. Not only are Rosés pleasing to the palate but ranging in jewel-like shades of pink from pale to va va voom, they are so very pretty. Of course, you don't want to spend too much time gazing at these wines, Rosés are meant for sipping!
From paella to summer salads and grilled fish to simple pasta dishes, Rosés pair well with many foods. Here are three terrific picks, all under $15, that taste great and won't break the bank. Cheers!
El Coto de Rioja Rosado 2010
$10
From sunny Spain where the men are guapo and the wine is delicioso, El Coto de Rioja Rosado is one of my favorites. A traditional blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha, this easy breezy wine is refreshingly juicy with a subtle cherry aroma. Sip this and you'll see why El Coto is the leading brand in Spain. Recently served at El Coto de Rioja's Paella Parade in NYC, this wine was a perfect match with savory paella. This is the Antonio Banderas of roses - so very smooth and sultry!
Hecht & Bannier Rosé Languedoc 2010
$12
Langeudoc-Roussillon is France's largest wine region, so a wine has to be extra special to stand out amongst so many stellar options. Maison Hecht et Bannier was formed in 2002 and the vineyard's founders say that "to conserve the typical Mediterranean strength in our wines while preserving balance and crispness, that is the mantra for all of the appellations we produce." Their delightful Rosé delivers on this promise. A beautiful blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault, this Rosé is all about balanced flavors. Floral, spicy, juicy, and a little dry, this vino is very versatile.
Jaboulet Parallele 45 Cotes du Rhone Rosé 2010
$14
This racy little rosé will have you coming back for more! Simply delicious, this blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault is a big bargain that delivers bold flavors. Be nice and share a glass with your friends!
