There has been mucho mumbling and grumbling about the demise of books but don't tell the folks at the Library Hotel - this luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan is a bricks and mortar celebration of the written word. Located on 41st Street and Madison Avenue (aka Library Way), it is just steps away from the New York Public Library and filled with enough books to make a bibliophile like me swoon.
Each of the ten guestroom floors at the Library Hotel are dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal System. My 10th floor Journalism room was on the General Knowledge level and the book case right next to the Queen size bed was stocked with books by and about famous journalists. Be sure to grab a bookmark from the front desk when you check in!
Like all of the hotels in the HK Hotels family, The Library Hotel offers guests many complimentary perks, like free WiFi; continental breakfast, and evening wine & hors d'oeuvres, valued at $105 per guest. The Library Hotel has the feel of a private club thanks to gorgeous spaces like the Reading Room and Writers Den. The sumptuous and light filled Reading Room is the perfect spot to relax with a cup of cappuccino or glass of vino.
The Reading Room
Breakfast & evening hors d'oeuvres are served here. You can enjoy coffee, tea, and cookies here throughout the day - the cappuccino is fabulous!
Madison & Vine
Confession: I have enjoyed a glass of wine at Madison & Vine on several occasions and had no idea that it was connected to the Library Hotel! This is a great spot for lunch and dinner.
Rooftop Terrace
The Library Hotel's Rooftop Terrace is a lovely oasis in the busy Big Apple.
The Library Hotel has a great location near many of the NYC's major sights & attractions - it is walking distance from Grand Central Station, Lord & Taylor, Bryant Park, the Morgan Library & Museum, and Times Square. For more information, visit www.libraryhotel.com.
