Am I the only one feeling a tad worn out by all of the Royal Wedding hoopla? Prince William and Kate Middleton make a lovely couple, and I wish them every happiness, but I have no plans to rise at the crack of dawn to watch the wedding. However, as a dressaholic, I will confess to being very curious about Miss Middleton's wedding gown and this princess looks forward to seeing those images once I awake from my beauty sleep.
For the past few weeks my e-mail has been flooded with all manners of Royal Wedding pitches. Some were cute, many were cheesy, and others just plain confusing. So, it was refreshing to receive information about The English Rose Royal Wedding Cocktail featuring Drambuie.
Created in honor of Kate Middleton and named for the key ingredient, rosewater, the cocktail's starring liqueur is Drambuie. A historical Scottish liqueur, DRAMBUIE was created more than 260 years ago exclusively for Prince Charles Edward Stuart of Scotland. In addition, Prince William and Kate were educated at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.
Drambuie is a unique combination of aged Scotch whiskies, heather honey and a blend of herbs and spices - a recipe kept secret since 1745. From the Gaelic “an dram buidheach” – the drink that satisfies, DRAMBUIE can be served on the rocks, in classic cocktails such as the Rusty Nail, or in more contemporary long drinks such as the DRAMBUIE and Soda.
Whether you want to raise your glass to toast the royal nuptials or if you just want a swanky cocktail to cope with the frenzy, The English Rose is a fitting choice. Cheers!
The Drambuie English Rose Cocktail
In a Champagne flute, add:
1 Sugar Cube
3 drops Orange Bitters
1 oz. DRAMBUIE
Slowly top with:
4 oz. chilled Blanc de Noirs Champagne
Splash Campari
3 drops Rosewater
Garnish with a thinly-sliced strawberry fanned and floated on top.

Ahhh, Maine - so close but a world away. I can't believe that I've visited my neighbors to the north only once - it was a memorable weekend, way back in high school, that included deliciously obscene amounts of lobster. But now that I've learned about The Cliff House Resort & Spa, I see a visit to magical Maine in my crystal ball.
Founded in 1872 by the current owner's great grandmother, the Cliff House Resort & Spa is the oldest family owned and operated resort on the East Coast. Located about one hour north of Boston on the south coast of Maine between York and Ogonquit, the Cliff House has 166 seaside rooms with balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A highly regarded resort, the Cliff House was cited as a "Reader's Choice Top Spa" by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
At the Cliff House, guests have the option of booking a room only or a great spa package like the Mothers/Daughters/Sisters/Friends package. This 2 night package starts at $823 per person and includes ocean-view Spa lodging; full breakfast each morning; lobster dinner or choice of entrée with beverage, appetizer and dessert one night of your choice; $125 spa credit per person; box of truffles, champagne and glasses, and a rose for your room. Maine sales tax and service charges are included. Be sure to try one of the signature facials or body wraps made with Maine blueberries!

I often find myself fantasizing about faraway tropical destinations, so it is nice to be reminded that I don't have to travel to the ends of the earth to gaze at palm trees and stroll on sandy beaches. Florida is such a short flight from New York City that I really should visit there more often when life in the Big Apple starts to feel a bit brutal and I don't want to spend countless hours on an airplane.
Information about Key West Southernmost on the Beach recently reached my inbox and this beautiful beach resort is now on my must-visit list. A TripAdvisor 2010 Traveler's Choice Winner, Southernmost on the Beach was also named as one of the Top Ten Hotels in the US for Romance. Located in Historic Old Town, this Key West property has a private pier that offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Southernmost on the Beach has 123 ocean view rooms, three penthouse suites, an oceanside pool bar, and a junior size Olympic pool. Spa services include massages, facials, manicures, and pedicures. If you are looking for a great spot for a destination wedding, Southernmost on the Beach offers wedding packages on the beach starting at $1499 for up to 50 guests.
Southernmost on the Beach pampers guests with complimentary resort activities including, Hula Hoop Fitness Classes on the Beach, Paddle Board, Beer School, Wine School, Trivia Games and more. With so much to offer, Southernmost on the Beach is a great option for a solo journey, a romantic escape, a weekend with Mom, or a girlfriend getaway. Some of the travel deals available at Southernmost on the Beach include, Stay 3 Nights & Save 10%, Stay 4 Nights & Save 15%, and Get the 5th Night Free.

Of course, you never leave the house without money, your ID card, and keys but are you prepared for aching feet, thirst, and hunger pains? Fill your bag with these essentials that will keep you comfy and satisfied on the go.
THE BAG
Sea Bags Sword Tote
$120
Made in Maine from recycled sails, this sassy little tote by Sea Bags has a black swordfish design wrapped around the bag, giving it a fashionable edge. Not just for the beach, this medium size tote has enough finesse to carry around town. Available in large for $150.
THE GOODIES
ESPRIT Scoop Neck Dress
$59 (and, ESPRIT is having a 40% off sale on EVERYTHING so you can buy this dress at a substantial discount.)
Is it crazy to keep a LBD in your tote? Maybe not everyday but I would certainly make sure to have one in my carry-on bag in case the checked luggage goes missing. This cute little black dress from Esprit can take you from day to night.
Kushy Foot Flats to Go
$8.99 - $9.99
I rarely leave my house without a pair of Kushy Foot Flats to Go. These faux leather ballet style flats are your feet's best friend at the end of a long day of wearing heels or to slip on and off at the airport. Honestly, at only $8.99 per pair, why not buy several pairs to keep in your various bags so you never forget a pair when you switch purses? They are available in several colors to match all of your favorite frocks. Kushy Foot makes all kinds of cool products to keep your tootsies comfy, including pretty cushioned lace foot covers.
Hint Water
When you are on the go and need to quench your thirst, step back from sugary soda and reach for a bottle of Hint Water. Let's face it, plain water doesn't always hit the spot but Hint is made from pure water that has been revved up with a hint of natural flavor. No sugar, no calories, no guilt. Flavors include Raspberry Lime, Honeydew Hibiscus, Cucumber, Blackberry, and Lime. You can find Hint nationally at Whole Foods & Starbucks. Or, you can order a case of 24 bottles online.
Smart for Life All Natural Protein Bars (Green Tea & Chocolate)
Sometimes sitting down for a real meal isn't on the agenda when you are on the road so keeping a meal replacement bar in your bag can save the day when your stomach starts growling and there is no grub in site. I was sent a sample of this protein bar and was intrigued by the fact that it has only 190 calories and 18g of protein per bar. Ok, we've established that it is healthier than a candy bar but how does it taste? The flavor kind of reminded me of a grown-up krispy treat - chewy and not too sweet. The bar was quite filling though. You can buy these individually at most drugstores or order them in bulk online.

Many of us will go to extreme lengths to look our best but even us die hard beauty addicts are drawing the line, whenever possible, at products that harm the planet. Beauty shouldn't make you feel guilty. Here are a few products that will leave you pretty without harming the grandest diva of them all - Mother Nature.
Beauty Without Cruelty
The first company to bring awareness to the issue of animals being used to test cosmetics, Beauty Without Cruelty offers a complete line of cosmetics and personal care products made with certified organic ingredients and without animal testing and animal ingredients.
I was recently sent samples of two Beauty Without Cruelty products: the Fragrance Free Body Care Hand & Body Lotion ($11.95) and the Aromatherapy Hair Care Daily Benefits Shampoo
($10.95).
The lotion may lack fragrance but it is chock full of potent moisturizers like Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, and Kukui Nut Oil. The other benefit of a fragrance free lotion is that you don't have to worry about it interfering with any other scents that you wear. Regarding the shampoo, my hair is so dry that I am always skeptical of shampoos that proclaim that they are effective for all hair types. However, I compared the ingredients of the Beauty Without Cruelty shampoo to the brands I regularly use and was happy to see that it contained many of the same ingredients like panthenol, sage, aloe, and rosemary. Beauty Without Cruelty offers many of their products in travel sizes, so go ahead and give their goodies a try. At $2.99 each for the travel sizes, the price is right and the quality is superb.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Full Strength
$45
My skin has been looking a little sluggish lately so I was thrilled when my BirchBox beauty sample included a sample of this Juice Beauty peel. I actually used it a few minutes ago while writing this. The peel contains certified organic apple, lemon, grape, raw cane sugar and willow bark and proclaims to deliver a spa-grade exfoliation. My face definitely feels smoother and baby soft and I expect that after a month or so of weekly use that the results will be impressive. I will definitely take this with me when I travel to give my face a pick me up after a long trip.
Yes To (Carrots, Cucumbers, Blueberries, and Tomatoes)
No, we aren't making a salad: Yes To harnesses the power of organic fruits and veggies to create a wide variety of face and body products. I'm a big fan of the Yes to Cucumbers and Yes to Blueberries facial towelettes. To celebrate Earth Week, Yes To will be offering 25% off ALL products site wide, through Sunday, April 24th. Simply enter the promotion code EARTH when checking out.

I have a love-hate relationship with flip flop sandals. In my humble opinion, they are perfectly appropriate for the beach and tropical getaways but not so cute on the subway or everyday city life - especially if your pedicure is not on point! However, there is a whole new breed of stylish flip flops that won't ruin the look of your little black dress. Check out these three fantastic styles.
FlipOut Jellies
$59.99
Buy one pair of FlipOut Jellies and get countless different looks. The sandals are available in three colors (pink, clear, and smoke) and each pair comes with two pairs of interchangeable shoe jewelry that can be attached for instant bling. FlipOut also makes a traditional flip flop style - those are $19.99 per pair. Shoe jewelry is $9.99-$24.99.
Lindsay Phillips SwitchFlops
$35-$54 for the shoes. Straps are $12-$15.
Designer Lindsay Phillips has REALLY created one shoe with infinite possibilities! Can you believe that all of the shoes pictured above are the exact same shoe? Yes, the shoe remains the same, only the strap has changed. Lindsay Phillips offers several shoe styles (flat and heels) that you can instantly modify to fit your mood or outfit by changing the strap - it securely attaches with velcro. Lindsay's genius idea started as a high school art project and she perfected her interchangeable design concept while she was a college student. She even spent a Semester at Sea which exposed her to a wide variety of cultures, colors, and patterns that inspired her strap designs. As Lindsay likes to say, "Change your look, not your sole."
Smushees by Grandoe
$35
Described as a travel pillow for your feet, Smushees feel just like they sound - cushy and comfy. I am wearing a pair as I write this and they are VERY soft. Each shoe is filled with polystyrene micro-beads that conform to all foot types and features a unique "Smush" foam footbed. Available in fun colors, Smushees are a great option for poolside lounging, spa days, or for walking around the airplane cabin on a long flight. Easy to care for - just machine wash Smushees on a gentle cycle and let them air dry.

There has been mucho mumbling and grumbling about the demise of books but don't tell the folks at the Library Hotel - this luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan is a bricks and mortar celebration of the written word. Located on 41st Street and Madison Avenue (aka Library Way), it is just steps away from the New York Public Library and filled with enough books to make a bibliophile like me swoon.
Each of the ten guestroom floors at the Library Hotel are dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal System. My 10th floor Journalism room was on the General Knowledge level and the book case right next to the Queen size bed was stocked with books by and about famous journalists. Be sure to grab a bookmark from the front desk when you check in!
Like all of the hotels in the HK Hotels family, The Library Hotel offers guests many complimentary perks, like free WiFi; continental breakfast, and evening wine & hors d'oeuvres, valued at $105 per guest. The Library Hotel has the feel of a private club thanks to gorgeous spaces like the Reading Room and Writers Den. The sumptuous and light filled Reading Room is the perfect spot to relax with a cup of cappuccino or glass of vino.
The Reading Room
Breakfast & evening hors d'oeuvres are served here. You can enjoy coffee, tea, and cookies here throughout the day - the cappuccino is fabulous!
Madison & Vine
Confession: I have enjoyed a glass of wine at Madison & Vine on several occasions and had no idea that it was connected to the Library Hotel! This is a great spot for lunch and dinner.
Rooftop Terrace
The Library Hotel's Rooftop Terrace is a lovely oasis in the busy Big Apple.
The Library Hotel has a great location near many of the NYC's major sights & attractions - it is walking distance from Grand Central Station, Lord & Taylor, Bryant Park, the Morgan Library & Museum, and Times Square. For more information, visit www.libraryhotel.com.

Unless you are living under a rock, you've probably heard that a certain beloved British Prince will wed a certain comely commoner on April 29th. Granted, this is not a wedding blog but it is nearly impossible to ignore the hoopla and even yours truly must recognize the phenomenon that is the Royal Wedding. Truth be told, I have great memories of Princess Diana walking down the aisle when I was a little girl and I am curious to see what Kate's dress will look like.
According to VisitBritain royal weddings boost tourism and 10- 20% more tourists are expected to visit Britain this April than last year. The media is obsessively following every detail of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding arrangements - What will she wear? Will her hair be up or down? Has she lost too much weight? I've never been married but it occurs to me that these are the same dilemmas facing all brides, Kate just has to deal with the burden of the entire world watching her prepare for her walk down the aisle and up the social ladder.
I know that some of my readers are brides-to-be and whether you are tying the knot in your hometown or planning a destination wedding, here are a few essentials that will make you feel like a princess on your big day. I learned about these products at the event "Accessorize for Your Royal Wedding hosted by Pamela Pekerman."

Find your Dream Dress at Bridal Reflections
Let's face it, next to the groom, choosing the perfect dress is perhaps the biggest decision a bride will make. Bridal Reflections has 3 salons in New York, including one on Fifth Avenue, and was named the "Most Chic Wedding Salon in the NY Area" by Brides Magazine. If you can't make it to their salons, Bridal Reflections also hosts trunk shows around the country. Bridal Reflections has been featured on David Tutera's hit show My Fair Wedding. More than just wedding dresses, Bridal Reflections also offers designer evening wear, shoes and accessories.
Glam Up with a Custom Garter by The Garter Girl
Ahh, the garter. This little piece of fabric is a big part of a traditional wedding ceremony and is said to trace back to the Dark Ages. In addition to custom styles. The Garter Girl has an amazing selection of traditional, modern, eco-friendly, and couture styles. Need that traditional "something blue" to complete your wedding ensemble? The Garter Girl has a bounty of blue garters to choose from. And, The Garter Girl is a real person - Julianne Smith designs and hand crafts all of the garters in Washington, DC. "The Garter Girl is about making wedding garters fun and bringing the tradition back…with a little style!
Lengthen your Locks with Effortless Extensions
Commitment to your soul mate is one thing but do you really want to commit tons of time adding extensions to your hair? I am a big fan of extensions and so glad that the stigma attached to wearing them has virtually disappeared. What I am not a fan of is the amount of time that it can take to have extensions sewn in. Just like the name implies , Effortless Extensions gives you all the glamour with virtually no effort - they provide length and volume in just a few seconds. No clips, no glue, no tape - Effortless Extensions are attached to a monofilament that you slip over your head and then blend in with your own hair. Effortless Extensions are available in human and synthetic hair and in a variety of textures.

One of the most interesting things I ever did in my career as an events planner was to organize a Passover Seder. As I delved into learning about this important holiday that commemorates the exodus of the Hebrew people from Egypt to Israel, it became very clear that specific foods, such as matzo (unleavened bread), were essential parts of the ritual meal. The Seder meal also includes the drinking of four cups of wine that are consumed after clicking glasses and saying L'Chaim (to life).
Whether you are hosting a Passover Seder or have been invited to attend as a guest, consider Backsberg Estate Cellars Kosher Chardonnay and Merlot. These delicious South African wines are 100% Kosher. Backsberg Estate Cellars was founded in 1916 by a family of Jewish refugees from Lithuania. The winery is located near Cape Town along the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountains. In addition to Kosher wines, the Backsberg portfolio includes a wide variety of non-Kosher wines.
Backsberg Chardonnay Kosher (2010)
$14
"Lemon zest, melon and hazelnut characters mingle to give a complex and fresh aroma. Natural acidity is balanced by sweet fruit flavours of white peach providing a medium bodied palate with a long rewarding finish."
Backsberg Merlot Kosher (2008)
$14
"The wine display aromas of raspberry and red plumbs. Succulent sweet fruit flavours and finely coated tannins."

A school where the Queen of Italian cuisine, Lidia Bastianich, is the dean? I would never skip those classes! Ms. Bastianich and partners, including Mario Batali, launched their Italian food emporium last August and it has quickly become the hottest place in the Big Apple to immerse yourself in the cuisine of Italy. The first time I visited, I found the experience overwhelming but a friend persuaded me to meet her there recently for a glass of Lambrusco at one of the food counters. EATALY remains a bee hive of activity but I found it much easier to navigate and after our vino I did some grocery shopping for some amazing prosciutto, olives, pasta and cheese!
La Scuola di EATALY is now offering a wide variety of cooking classes so that shoppers can learn how to prepare all of the exquisite ingredients that they purchase at EATALY. The diverse curriculum includes courses on learning to speak Italian through food, wine tasting, and more.
For those of us who wish we had more time to whip up gourmet Italian meals, the course Quassi Fato in Casa (Almost Homemade) with Francine Segan sounds like a delicious way to learn some new culinary skills. The course description states, "No time to cook? Non c’e’ problema! There are countless quick and simple classic Italian recipes that are easy-to-make no matter what your personal culinary skill level might be. Food author and speaker Francine Segan will guide you through some of her favorite quick fix dishes featuring some of Italy’s, and Eataly’s, best ready-made ingredients and you will get to taste. Discover the secrets to incorporating some of the delicious sauces and products gia’ pronti Eataly has to offer for your next dinner party. And your guests need never know! As always, dishes will be accompanied by wine and class will be complete with informational product notes and recommended recipes to take home."
Francine Segan is one of my favorite foodies! A culinary historian, Francine is the author of several books, including the Opera Lover's Cookbook which was nominated for a James Beard Award. I have attended Francine's lectures on food and even booked her to speak when I was the Events Director at the Princeton Club. Her enthusiasm and knowledge are beyond compare. I don't know many people with encyclopedic knowledge of the food of Ancient Greece, Italian sweets, aphrodisiacs, and modern food trends but Francine does!
Francine's class at EATALY is on Tuesday, April 26, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. The course fee is $125 and the menu includes:
Tortelli di Zucca con Aceto Balsamico (Squash Tortelli Topped with Aged Balsamic Vinegar), Tonno con Carciofi (Tuna with Artichokes), Verdure sott'Olio (Marinated Italian Vegetables), and Pizza con Crema di Gianduja (Dessert Pizza with Chocolate-Hazelnut Cream). Menu is subject to change based on seasonal availability.

It has been one month and a day since Japan was changed forever by the massive earthquake and tsunami that claimed so many lives. The news media may have lessened their coverage of this tragedy but I imagine that for the people of Japan this has been the longest month of their lives as they mourn, rebuild, and face each day feeling less certain about what the future holds. I confess to feeling helpless in the face of such epic disasters. I pray, I donate what funds I can, and pray some more. All of these are small gestures but small gestures by many can create a big change. The proceeds from the following items will benefit those in Japan that have been impacted by the disaster and send an important message of solidarity.

As a very nerdy teenage girl I was obsessed with sex appeal - I wanted some. Real bad. There were these two Brazilian girls (they may have been sisters) from Sao Paulo at boarding school that seemingly every boy on campus adored. No matter when and where I saw these girls, they always looked runway ready - even at the darn library during finals week. Now that I'm older I realize that, yes they were pretty girls, but more than anything they had oodles of confidence - they seemed comfortable in their own skin and not burdened by the teenage angst that often overwhelmed me.
From Sonia Braga to Gisele Bundchen, Brazil is famous for their sexy, bold, and confident women. Brazilian Sexy: Secrets to Living a Gorgeous and Confident Life is a new book written by Janea Padilha. Who is Janea Padilha and what makes her an authority? Well, if you've ever had a Brazilian wax iin YOUR southern hemisphere, you can thank Ms. Padilha. She and her six sisters are the owners of NYC's famous J Sisters Salon and can be credited for creating and introducing the Brazilian Wax to America. Their famous clients include Vanessa Williams (she wrote the foreword to the book), Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Campbell and many others.
When I first received my copy of Brazilian Sexy to review, I feared that it might be an obnoxious tome about the superiority of Brazilian women but this sweet little book is actually written in a very friendly tone. Janea sounds like the cool aunt that would make you a cocktail and share all of her wisdom about life, love, beauty and sex with you. Brazilian Sexy has common sense advice on handling the ups and downs of life with gusto, how to think yes instead of no, and ways to bring sizzle into any relationship. Of course, there is also information about hair removal.
Brazilian Sexy isn't so much a beauty book as a guide to living a more beautiful life. Janea writes, " No one else can make you feel bad about yourself -you are the only one who can do that. That is the power that you have, to make yourself feel good or feel bad. Once you know that, you can stop some of those voices inside your head, the ones who are telling you that you are not good enough. When those voices try to get into my head, I just push them out. I don't pay them any mind. Who cares about them."
Amen to that! I think I'll make a cold caipirinha, blast some bossa nova, and strut my sexy stuff!
PS. I am going to keep my review copy of Brazilian Sexy but I will treat one lucky reader to their very own copy. Just leave a comment below telling me what makes you feel sexy and confident by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13 EST. I will pick one reader at random and order them their own copy of the book. Prize can only be shipped to addresses in the United States.

Staying fit on the road can be a daunting task. Honestly, the hotel treadmill is the last place in the world I want to be - I would rather walk miles sightseeing. But, I have had some getaways where I managed to shake up my exercise routine by doing something a little different - sunrise yoga on the beach in Florida is one of my favorite memories. That experience showed me that it was possible to make fitness a fun part of my vacation instead of an imposition. If you need a little inspiration to start working out, or just want a cute exercise outfit, here are three finds that make fitness on the road a piece of cake (whole-grain and low-sugar, of course!)
Ultimate You: A 4 Phase Total Body Makeover for Women Who Want Maximum Results
by Joe Dowdell
If you really want to increase your knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and weight management, this book is chock full of good information that will keep you on track no matter where you are. Author Joe Dowdell is the founder and co-owner of Peak Performance which was voted #3 gym in America by Men's Health Magazine. Celebrities, athletes and top fashion models have all trained with Dowdell. Ultimate You has some great tips like suggesting that you travel with exercise bands for a strength building workout that you can do anywhere. It also features great stretching sequences that you can easily perform in your hotel room or outdoors in the park and at the beach.
Marika Magic Shape Enhancing Activewear
$32-$42
Personally, I enjoy my workouts more when I am wearing a cute ensemble. I was recently asked to road test a Marika Magic Sports Bra and I give it a thumbs up. The fabric is very comfortable and moves with you. The power-mesh fabric also flattens and sculpts your tummy so that you look 10 pounds thinner without even breaking a sweat. So, if you don't make it to the gym, wear some Marika and no one will be the wiser! The Marika Magic line includes the Uplift Bra, a Tummy Control Pant, a Tummy Control Tank, a Butt Booster Pant and more.
Banjees Reversible Wrist Wallet by Sprigs
$15-$16.50
This nifty product is great for sports and travel. Banjees can store your cash, keys, ID, and even small cell phones in a comfortable pouch that zips shut. They are available in a variety of solid colors and patterns - I'm partial to the leopard print. Not only would this be great for storing your room key if you do venture out to the hotel gym, I would wear this at the airport to store my ID so I don't have to pull out my wallet. One size fits all divas (and divos.)

A good hotel offers more than plump pillows, a well-stocked mini-bar, and someone else to make your bed. Hotels have personalities: trendy or timeless, refined or raucous, intimate or grandiose. As of February 2011, visitors to New York City could choose from 86,232 rooms. Wow! How does one find their ideal hotel match with so many options? Well, permit me to offer some assistance. If you are looking for a boutique hotel with quiet charm, cost saving amenities, and a fantastic location, the Hotel Giraffe may be the little slice of heaven that you are looking for.
I was recently invited to spend the night at the Hotel Giraffe and was thrilled to have a mini-adventure just 15 minutes away from home. Located on Park Avenue South at 26th Street, the Hotel Giraffe is steps away from some of the best dining and sights in town - you can easily walk to the Empire State Building, Madison Square Park, Union Square, and Gramercy Park. East and West side subway lines are also very close by. One of my favorite bistros, Les Halles (made famous by Anthony Bourdain) is just 2 blocks away and the hotel offers room service from Dos Caminos and Park Avenue Bistro.
While actual giraffes don't roam the Big Apple, the hotel was designed to embody the grace and beauty of this striking creature. Truly boutique in the best sense of the word, the Hotel Giraffe has 72 rooms, including 21 suites. A smoke-free property, the Hotel Giraffe offers superior and deluxe rooms - opt for the deluxe and you will enjoy a European style balcony adorned with fresh flowers. I really liked the decor of my room - it had an understated luxury thanks to the 10ft ceilings, antique-rose velveteen upholstered chairs, and original B&W photographs from the '20s and '30s. Modern touches include free Wi-FI and flat screen televisions. Complimentary amenities include:
Hotel Giraffe is offering several fun and affordable packages that will make your next trip to NYC one to remember. The Champagne Days & Naughty Nights package starts at $255 per night (2 night minimum required) includes a chilled bottle of Veuve Clicquot, rose petal turndown, Naughty Bubbles bubble bath and other frisky goodies. The 'I Do' Love Shopping in NYC! package is perfect for the bride to be. Starting at $389 per night (2 night minimum required) it includes a manicure for 2 at Oasis Day Spa, a guide to top bridal shopping recommendations, and a "Something Blue" bridal bouquet charm.

PS. Hotel Giraffe is a member of HK Hotels - a collection of 4 luxury boutique hotels in NYC. I also stayed at their midtown property, the Hotel Elysee , and had a fantastic time. My review of their Library Hotel is coming soon.

It feels like I have been praying and pouting for years as I wait for the TSA to abolish their requirement that all carry-on liquids be confined to a zip-top plastic bag and not exceed 3 ounces per item. Not to sound like a broken record but mascara is NOT the enemy. Until the rules change, we have no choice and better comply unless we want to be reduced to tears when our favorite fancy face cream is confiscated. Here are five terrific travel friendly beauty products that will be a great addition to your regimen at home and have earned a place in your carry-on when you travel.
Makeup For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation
$40
My skin is sensitive and oily, so finding the right foundation is always a challenge. I am having great results with this oil-free, medium to full coverage option from Makeup For Ever. Available in 25 shades, I love how lightweight this feels on my skin. The coverage is great without looking like a mask. Designed to make your skin look fantastic in bright or harsh lighting, this foundation will have you looking virtually flawless in unflattering airplane lighting and in all of your vacation photos.
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti Sun Damage Daily Moisture Lotion
$13.49
This is a great daily moisturizer with the added benefit of SPF 28 to protect your face from sun damage. I often find that moisturizers with sunscreen leave my face looking way too shiny but Garnier Skin Renew gives it a nice healthy glow. It is also a great base for makeup. It is 99.9% oil free and contains skin friendly ingredients like lycopene, vitamin C and magnesium.
Ole Henriksen Truth to Go Wipes
$6 for 10 wipes, $15 for 30
Wipes can save the day on a long trip when your face needs refreshing. Enriched with green tea, CoQ10, Vitamin C and Micro Algae, these wipes clean and treat your skin. Ole Henriksen has been pampering celebs in his Hollywood spa for years and with these wipes you can give yourself a bit of the star treatment. No ziplock bag required to bring these on board!
KORRES Pomegranate Detoxifying Natural Clay Mask
$27
I love to put on a fluffy hotel robe, raid the mini bar, and give myself a facial when I travel. I use this mask once a week and it is very gentle but effective. Often clay masks can leave your face feeling too dry and tight but this one leaves it smooth and soft. In addition to the oil-absorbing white argil clay, the lactic acid provides a gentle exfoliation.
TOPSHOP Nail Varnish Remover
$3 for 20 wipes ( available only in TOPSHOP stores, not online)
Chipped nail polish is not just annoying, it can look really tacky. These little pads from TOPSHOP are not only convenient but they are acetone free and enriched with Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 - very good for your nails. These pads work a little differently - you dab your nails, wait a few seconds and then wipe. The consistency is almost like a dry oil and once you remove the polish your nails are left with a nice sheen.
