As I turned on my computer to write today's blog post, I heard on the news that Elizabeth Taylor had passed away at the age of 79. It brought tears to my eyes because so many of my memories of Dame Elizabeth are linked to memories of my beloved late Grandma Bertha Colbert. My Grandma adored Elizabeth Taylor and loved to gossip about her love affairs. But more than anything, Grandma and Elizabeth were kindred spirits in many ways. They were both performers (Grandma was a recording artist) who loved big furs, big jewels, and had even bigger love affairs. When Taylor released her White Diamonds fragrance it quickly became my Grandma's favorite scent. I know that if my Grandma were still alive that she would shed some tears for the loss of Elizabeth. Today, my tears are for both of them.
