Last week, I kicked off Malbec Madness with a review of 2 very affordable and delicious Argentine wines, ASTICA & Falling Star. Today, I would like to introduce the next all-star players in our Malbec Madness roundup - the wines of Michel Torino.
Founded in 1892 by brothers Salvador and David Michel, Michel Torino is considered the most important winery in Argentina's Cafayate Valley. Their 1500 acres of vineyards stand 5500-6600 ft. above sea level and all of the wines are hand harvested. Michel Torino also practices sustainable and environmentally friendly farming by using minimal fertilizers and chemicals.
Michel Torino Malbec (2010)

This is a winning choice if you are looking for a vino that pairs well with meat and other hearty dishes. 100% Malbec, this wine's aroma is a beguiling blend of plum and chocolate. Dark berry fruit with a hint of vanilla and spice make this wine a pleasure to sip.
Michel Torino Malbec Don David (2008)
$15.99
Also100% Malbec, Michel Torino Malbec Don David is plummy and juicy with lovely hints of vanilla and nutty notes.
CUMA Malbec (2010)
$12.99
Many of us are making a concerted effort to add more organic foods to our diet. Don't forget the wine! Michel Torino Estate's line of CUMA wines are certified organic. Cuma means "pure and clear" in Aymara, the language of the indigenous people who inhabited the land in the time of the Incas. The flavors of these wines are a bit more intense. A beautiful red-violet color, CUMA Malbec 2010 is a pleasing blend of berry flavors with a hint of spice.
